I realized that I have not even blogged about Jen and Curtis new little arrival. His name is "Ozzy" and he is darling. He was a ten pounder and apparently is ready for the football season! His big sister loves him and is always saying his name. Very cute. So here are a few pics of "Little Ozzy" that I got while he was still in the hospital. Oh, he is actually 4 weeks old now.

Because Brian and Mallory were down for the new arrival, we went to the canyon for a little Barbecue. Here are a few pics of the kids from that afternoon:

If it looks like we just have grandsons...that is because the boys REALLY out number the girls. Right now we have 10 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. Come Feb. though we will have 5 granddaughters. Yeah, the girls are catching up:)

Okay, last but not least! Derek and Cindy were up camping, they invited Neal and I up for dinner and the campfire entertainment was beyond words. Here are a few pics of that. I wonder where these guys learned to be so "goofy!"

Collin Raye

Jake and Olivia came and spent a few days with us. It was really fun, they are such good kids! We really enjoyed them. Just a few pics of them.

These are some random pics of us waiting for Collin Raye. We were in Draper and those of us waiting for about 4hrs. in the 100 plus degree weather were me(of course), Jen, Shaylie, Cindy and Jake. Curtis, Neal, Derek, Bryce and Olivia came just a little bit before the concert started. It was hotter than hot, BUT, was oh so fun. I love Collin Raye and don't worry, Neal knows all about it. Hee, hee!

Fourth of July

These are just random pics from the 4th of July. We of course did the good ole country 4th of July here in Moroni. They seriously do have one of the best fireworks shows EVER! They set them off right above our house and shut the road down. So, we sit on the front yard, these are front row seats, and no one else is around because the road is blocked. It is awesome. Unfortunately, I get confused while doing this and I always do it wrong. So, the first pics are of the family games we played and the carnival in the park just below our house. Then you will see the parade pics.

Grandma Allens 80th B.day party

We celebrated my moms 80th birthday party with a BANG!!! We tried to invite as many people as we could that would like to come and wish her a Happy Birthday. We had a great time seeing old and new friends and relatives. Lyle Hadlock played background music the entire time and it was beautiful. We missed some family members that live too far away to come and participate, other than that, all the fam was there. Thanks everyone for making it so much fun!! Thanks Grandma for having an 80th b.day!

This is a story about the trencher that Neal rented....that got away from Neal.....that went OVER the rock wall....that landed on it's side in the neighbors yard....that "just missed" the neighbors car...that had to be picked up by a fork lift...that will surely take Neals allowance for the rest of the year for damages!!!
(Truly lucky, that Neal didn't go with it and that it didn't hit the neighbors car OR the neighbors, they were outside and it could have happened!)

Neal and I went to Lake Powell on Thursday and came back home on Friday. My brother, Blaine and his wife, Elizabeth live out there. They have been there for almost two years and we have never gone out. So, now that they will be moving to Oregon, well, we got off our cans and went out there. It was VERY nice to visit with them. We enjoyed their hospitality greatly. We mostly just visited and that was really nice. Hopefully, Oregon will work out well for them. Here are a few pics.

Freezing snowman or snow thingy!

Brian and Brody made this snowman for grandma when they came to visit about Dec. 11th. It warmed up a tiny...ever so tiny little bit and the snowman started to melt. Then it froze solid, just like this. My YW are saying to me all the time "Arlene, your snowman is going to fall over." Joke is on them, it is frozen solid just the way it is. On Christmas Eve, Tif said "Who made your snowman or snow thingy." Too funny, so now I just call it my snow goblin. Thanks Brody for such a good time. The other pic is of the frozen ice on our porch. OBVIOUSLY our rain gutters DON'T work properly and this is what we end up with it. We really need to get that fixed this summer. But, just to show how COLD it is. I am ready for SPRING!!!

Last Saturday we had an extended family Christmas Party. Because of the amount of people, we held it at the activity center next to our home. It was really fun. We missed a lot of people because of illness and travel, but, for those that came, it was a good time. Here are a few pics

We had a little talent show that was incredible. Jason and Jens kids all did something, one piano player, one lizard talent, and one who just liked the microphone. Dan and Alyssas daughter played the piano AND sang, it was so cute and then their little boy sang "Santa Claus is coming to town." Very cute. Derek and Cindys boys sang while Olivia played the piano for them. Talk about talent. Greg and Sarahs oldest recited a poem that he learned in preschool, flawlessly. A good time was had by all. This is the stuff memories are made of, thanks to all who could come.

We had a talent show from the kids, it was really cute. Jason and Jens kids played the piano, told of their talent for taking care of lizards and, well, just enjoyed jabbering into the microphone. Such talented kids. Derek and Cindys boys sang while Olivia played for them on the piano. Dan and Alyssas kids were cute. Delanie played the piano AND sang! Her brother sang "Santa Claus is coming to town." Very cute Greg and Sarahs oldest son recited a poem he learned in preschool, about a peppermint stick and Dallin said some words that he is getting very good at. This is what it looked like AFTER our Thanksgiving Feast!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. Even though it was our "off" year, we still were not left alone on this family day. Derek and Cindy and kids came. Cindy's Parents are here,Joe and Imelda, staying with Cindy and so they were able to come down with them. Todd was here. Kyle and Tif and Cody came and then left for another Thanksgiving dinner with her family. My mom was at my sisters house this year, we missed Grandma Allen being here. They all came down on Wed. night and we played a card game until midnight. I actually stayed awake...just barely. At 9:00 a.m. Thurs. there was a "Turkey Bowl" with my ward that all the guys participated in. All the younger guys that is. Neal was putting up Christmas lights (Yeah for Neal) and Joe watched some of the Turkey bowl. All in all, it was a wonderful day. Thanks to everyone for bringing such wonderful food and to Olivia for making the cute napkin rings. We have MUCH to be thankful for and hopefully we express it regularly. We missed having the rest of our family with us, but will enjoy them at Christmas and next Thanksgiving we will have the WHOLE crew. (Hopefully that includes Shannon and her family. Let's get them closer!!!)

Olivia's recital

We were going to have to miss Olivia's recital because of....go figure....softball! So Derek and Cindy brought the recital to us. It was very nice. Olivia did a great job, she has just started playing and is doing very well.

St. George

Right after Alabama we went to St. George for a softball tournament that the girls I coach at North Sanpete High were in. Jen, Shaylie and Todd went down with us. It was fun. The softball girls LOVED Shaylie, it was so cute. Kyle, Tif and Cody also went because Kyle has been coaching softball at Timpanogos. All in the family, for sure! The sun was incredible and we had a very nice time. Fun to see friends from Timpanogos also. I hate to see those girls graduate, Alison, Natalie and Jessica. Such fun to be able to spend time with them during the softball season.

Alabama

Let me catch you up on my life. In March Neal and I went to Alabama to see Shannon and her family. It was GREAT fun! I have posted some random pics. We really didn't do anything fancy, just hung out with each other and enjoyed the time. The kids were on Spring Break and so we were able to spend a lot of time with them. We spent a lot of time playing a dice game and eating James good cooking. It doesn't get better than that. The kids are growing up and I really don't like that, but, what do you do! Damon was sooo excited for his "best friend, grandpa" to come. We really did have a great time and we look forward to them coming here the end of June thru July.

IT'S A BOY!

Cody Dan Bilbao was born on Feb. 16, 2009. He was 6 lbs. 14 oz. 20" long. What a cutie. Kyle and Tiffany are very proud of their bouncing baby boy. Grandma and Grandpa are pretty proud too! That makes grandchild # 11 for us. Eight boys and three girls. Brian and Mallory will be having #12 for us, in July. Yup, it's a boy also. The bilbao's do boys that is for sure! The name shall live on!

Brian and Mallory came down over the weekend. They were hoping that Kyle and Tif would have their baby while they were here and they did! Here are a few pics, Brody taking a bubble bath at grandmas and grandpas. Then there is Shaylie having her bath as well. Hey, they are pretty clean kids! We also have a little friendly competition going on with "wii fit" and Brian and Curtis were pretty happy when they both beat a Bischoff high score, so we took pics of their joy and happiness!!!! O.K., I just looked at my camera and realized that I did not post pics of the Family Christmas Party and a few New Years Eve photos. So....better late than next year I guess! Next door to our home they have what they call the "Activity Center." It is owned by the church. On the main floor is basically a "cultural hall." That is where they do all of their sports. It also has an incredible kitchen. In the basement is a cannery and the Family History Center. Very functional building. BUT for our family it is where we go to play because I just happen to be one of the lucky ones that has a key to it. As long as no one else is using it we can use it. It is quite fun. Thus, the pics that look like we are in the church...close but not a church! The pinata was a blast. We will have to do that again for sure! I hope this catches me up, for now.

I have been chastising Kyle and Tif for not updating their blog and then I realized that I had better update mine!
I hope the other kids don't think that I only want to take pics of Shaylie, but she seems to be the only one that I see quite frequently. Jen called up last week and said she and Shaylie were coming down to spend the day, night and the next morning. It was fun. We had a good time doing nothing!

Festival of Trees

Our Y.W. had done a few projects to donate to the Festival of Trees and so we decided to take them up there and enjoy the festivities. We had a GREAT time. Jen pulled us out of a bind and she and Shaylie came down and helped us drive the girls up. What a lifesaver. The cute pics of Shaylie came, compliments of one of my Y.W. making her smile like that. EASY Homemade Bread Recipe

I got this recipe at least 20 years ago. Maybe more. It turns out perfect time after time. I got it from a woman in one of my older wards. Her name is Loy Billings. Thanks Loy for the tried and true recipe that's perfect for winter baking!

White or Whole Wheat Bread
(4 loaves)
1/2 c. warm water
Sprinkle sugar
2 TB. yeast

5 c. hot liquid
7 c. flour
1/2 c. honey
1/2 c. oil
1 TB. salt
add yeast/water, mix well
Add enough flour for soft dough (about 5-7 c.)
Knead, put in pan, let rise. Bake @ 400 for 30 min

We went to Blanding for a short little trip. It was fun to see Brian and Mallorys new home. We had never seen it yet, I think they have owned it for about 6 months or more! Shame on us. Anyway....it is a great house and has an incredible back yard. Fun for them. Brody was cute as he can be. The weather could not have been better. We went to some Indian Ruins, it was really nice. Oh, and Neal even managed to get a speeding ticket on the way down, you gotta love it!

Fun Weekend

Several of the kids and their families came down for either a few hours on Sat. (Jen, Curtis and Shaylie) or to spend the night and attend church with us (Derek, Cindy, Bryce, Olivia, Jake, Kyle, Tiffany and Todd.)

We had a very nice time playing games on the Wii, including American Idol (which we actually got Neal to participate with one song! Simon didn't like it too well however! We also just played cards and just hung out. Thanks for coming down it was great fun. We also got to celebrate Jakes b.day. A day or two early but hey, he doesn't know or care. It was fun, look at the pics to see how much he enjoyed his cake!

Layered Dip for Chips

I got this recipe from one of my counselors. She made it for a Y.W. activity we had. It is incredible! Enjoy!

Layered Dip for Chips
1st layer: l-16oz can of refried beans mix with
1/2 can of Jalapena bean dip 2nd layer: 3 ripe avocados mashed with
2Tbs. Lemon Juice salt & pepper
3rd layer: 1 cup sour cream mixed with
1 cup real mayonaise
1/2 pkg mild taco seasoning
4th layer: Cut up tomatoes, olives, grn onions
5th layer: grated mozerella and mild cheese
use as much as you want.
Put in any clear pyrex bowl or pie plate

Our cute, cute, little granddaughter arrived on Tues., Sept. 16th. She weighed in at 8lb. and was 19 1/2" long. Jen had a c-section after pushing for three hours and no baby. BUT...Jen was a trooper and did extremely well with it, better than her mother did. So, here are some pics and I won't even excuse myself for how many I post, because you will enjoy every single one because she is so darling! She did have a little oxygen problem, but that is all taken care of now. Mom and baby went home on Sat.

Just so you know, Neal was called to be the financial clerk in our ward. He was sustained and set apart today. So, only a few more weeks of teaching gospel doctrine we are thinking. That's honestly too bad. How does someone get the church calling that they think is the BEST calling in the church? When he did it before, he would come home and say "I have the best calling in the church." I was enjoying watching him squirm while teaching sunday school. Oh, well. He will do a GREAT job just like he does with anything he is called to do.

A day in the Uintahs with the boys!

Kyle got a tip on where a gold stash was in the Uintahs. So of course they had to make, yet another trip in to search for the treasure. Neal, Kyle, Brian, Todd, Curtis, Derek, Bryce and Joe all went. They were successful, they found MANY treasures, none of which were of any worth! This pic is showing off the beauty they get to enjoy while they are searching. It is pretty. Not worth the hike for me, but I can enjoy looking at pics. I'm sure someone will add more pics to their blog, they took some great ones.

I forgot to add this and it was something I really enjoyed. We went to the Pioneer Pageant in Nephi with our good friends Randy and Janice Bristow. I think we went on either the 22nd or 23rd of July. Anyway...it was REALLY good. When they do it again, in 2010, be sure to go and take some kleenex. Wow, what they went through is truly amazing.

Just to let all of my kids know that we got "The Barn" again. We are scheduled there on Sept. 19th and 20th.

Greg and I drove by an Elk farm last week and I forgot to post these pics. So, here they are....for all the guys. Evan was with us and was earlier frightened by a dog (this was a BIG dog not like Trixie) but when we got to the Elk, he asked his dad if he could go touch them!!!!!

Zucchini Cookies

Cindy asked for this and so here it is. I actually made some and they weren't too bad. This recipe came from my sister Carolyn and NOTHING ever tastes as good as when she made it for some stupid reason. But....they are still good.

Cream together: 1/2 c. shortening, 1 egg, 1 c. sugar. Add 1 1/2 c. shredded zucchini, 1 tsp. soda, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt. (1/2 tsp. of each) 2 c. flour, 1 c. chopped nuts (I never use the nuts) 1/2 c. choc. chips (more like 1 c. probably.)

Mix and drop by spoonfuls on a lightly greased/sprayed cookie sheet. 350 degrees for 15 min.

My Summer Vacation

My Summer Vacation is the BEST! We got to go for a full 24 hr. period to St. George for Tuacahn. Yes, you read it right......24 hrs! Trust me, it was like pulling teeth to get Neal to do that. The man just loves working, working, working. The wife just loves playing, playing, playing! Oh well, happy to get 24 hrs. out of him. Todd went with us and we met Brian and Mallory down there. They left Brody home so they could watch the plays undisturbed! Good for them, bad for me. It was a lot of fun. It had rained very hard right before the musical so that cooled everything down for us. I have NEVER been to Tuacahn when the weather was not killing you because it was so hot. This was VERY nice. Sorry Todd is not in the picture, he was taking it and what a good picture taker he is!

Today is Sat. and Grandma Allen had invited us all over for a barbecue at her house. Soooo.....I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. YES a.m.! After I dropped Neal off at work I spent most of the morning with Greg and Evan! We went to some yard sales and it was fun. Then I went to Jen's and waited for time to get Neal and go to the barbecue. Jen was kind enough to let me take a little nap on her most comfy couch. The barbecue was great fun. Good food, good company and good weather! GOOD grief, what more do you want?? Thanks grandma and everyone for bringing all that good food.

Jen came to visit me on Friday. She got here around 9:30 and she made hair bows for her baby girl and I, well just as usual, I'm not exactly sure what I did. It was fun to have her come and see me. We both then left and rode back to Orem together and she dropped me off to the dentist, took me to make a rock delivery and then dropped me off at Kyle and Tifs where they had to put up with me until Neal got off work and came and rescued them by taking me home! It was a nice day. Here are some of the cute bows she made. Also a picture of Greg and Sarahs littlest boy, Dallin, trying on a bow for us. Gee, is he really a girl or a boy. Pretty dang cute either way.

Hummingbirds are such funny little guys. They WILL NOT share! I have tried to tell them again and again that they should share but they refuse. There is plenty of room for them all but no, no, no....we musn't share.

Anyway, they are cute and they stare right in our kitchen window all day every day. It's pretty cute!

Neals HUGE 800lb. pumpkin

Skip the long story......Neal got some pumpkin seeds that are supposedly from an 800 lb. pumpkin. So......he planted and watered and babied and well so far he has greenier! A few flowers, I think. But hey, who am I to talk, he planted and it will come! Soon you will see him SITTING on his pumpkin (hah! thought I was going to say something else didn't you!) in every newspaper and on every news channel telling the world how HE grew this incredible pumpkin. People will come from near and far...o.k, o.k., I'll stop now. But this is why I started a blog so I could keep talking and talking and talking!
